Exchange of information and experience between judicial training institutions, in particular in the areas of initial and continuing training of judges and prosecutors was the main purpose of the visit of representatives of the National Institute of Justice to the Centre for Legal Studies (CEJ) in Lisbon, Portugal. The transfer of expertise was carried out thanks to the Council of Europe within the joint EU-CoE project "Support for justice reform in the Republic of Moldova".
On Friday, December 8, 2023, the ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, Ecaterina Popa, has received the visit of the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, Falk Lange. This is the first visit to the NIJ since the beginning of his mandate.
Two postage stamps, the envelope “first day cover” and special stamps “Drawings of children” and “75 years since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights” were released on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the National Institute of Justice. The project was carried out in partnership with the state-owned enterprise “Posta Moldovei” within the UN global campaign dedicated to the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and aims to promote the fundamental values of human rights.
On December 4-5, 2023, the 41st plenary meeting of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice was held in Strasbourg, France. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova included Vitalie Stratan, trainer and member of the Council of the National Institute of Justice, judge at the Chisinau Court.
Between December 1-2, 2023, in Tashkent and Samarkand, Uzbekistan, took place the international conference "Legal Education and Research in Upholding the Rule of Law: Current Trends and Future Directions". Organized on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the event brought together representatives of the law sector, academics, researchers, experts from Asia and Europe (China, France, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Portugal, Sweden, USA, Turkey, etc.). From the National Institute of Justice were present Ecaterina Popa, ad interim Director, and Olga Marandici, advisor to the NIJ Director, head of the International Relations Section.
