In order to adjust the Council of Europe HELP course on child-friendly justice to the Moldovan legal order, on Friday, January 25, 2019, was organized a workshop for judges, prosecutors, representatives of the institutions empowered to protect the children rights, academia and non-governmental organizations.
The event was opened by William Massolin, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau and Alexandra Nica, Head of the Training and Research Department of the NIJ, who emphasized that the course will be launched in two judicial training institutions simultaneously - the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova and the National Institute of Magistracy of Romania. Therefore, the beneficiary group will be a mixed one and will include representatives of the legal professions from both countries.
Within the workshop, the CoE experts have presented the best practices of national adjustment of the Help course, the CoE Guidelines on child-friendly justice and the HELP course, also the existing training resources for child-friendly justice professionals etc.
Also, the workshop included discussions on the content of the nine modules of the „Child-friendly justice” course. Elaborated based on CoE European Human Rights Education Program for legal professionals, it will be adapted to the relevant national legislation by tutors from the two countries. Violeta Cojocaru, trainer of NIJ, Dean of Moldovan State University’s Law Faculty, doctor habilitatus and university lecturer, will perform the adjustment of the course according to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova.
The activity is part of the CoE project „Protection of children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse in RM”.
