On Thursday, November 11, 2021, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Diana Scobioala, moderated the Session 4: levels and assessment of risk in the context of HIV exposure and other offenses. The debates took place during the third edition of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) Regional Forum of Judges’ Forum on HIV and Human Rights, which takes place today and tomorrow, November 11-12, 2021, in regime of video conference.
The event brings together judges, experts and representatives of national magistracy schools from Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Moldova, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
This year's edition, organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the National School of Judges of Ukraine, aims to address several issues related to scientific, medical and epidemiological data on HIV prevention, treatment and care, international and regional guidelines. on HIV, collateral infections, law and human rights, social and structural factors that increase the vulnerability of HIV-positive people and key populations, the judicial and legislative response to HIV and legal provisions at national, regional and international levels, etc.
We mention that the first Regional Forum of EECA Judges took place in October 2019, in Chisinau, being organized by UNDP and the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, to serve as a platform that will facilitate the exchange of experience and share the challenges that arise in the work of judges with regard to the protection of human rights in the context of HIV and co-infections.
