In order to generate exchange of information and experience and also to become acquainted with the way of functioning of the Italian law institutions, Diana Scobioala, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, accompanied by Valentina Contescu, the Head of the Institutional Management Department, realized a study visit in Italy, on May 11-18, 2019.
During the visit, the NIJ representatives had the opportunity to visit the Palace of Justice and the High School for the Magistracy in Florence, as well as the Superior Council of Magistracy, the Supreme Court of Cassation and the Ministry of Justice in Rome.
The program included a series of meetings with leading civil servants of the Italian justice sector, where were addressed issues that included both the positive aspects and the most important challenges in the justice sector in both countries. The representatives of the National Institute of Justice expressed their interest regarding the process of training future judges and prosecutors, as well as in the continuous training of judges and prosecutors in service.
The study visit was organized within the framework of the European Union Project “Support to Efficient Prevention and Fight against Corruption in the Justice Sector”.
