„Considerations, exchange of experience and practices in the field of preventive arrest and its alternatives” was the generic of the roundtable held on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the Supreme Court of Justice.
Organized by the National Institute of Justice and the United States Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, the event was aimed at sharing best practices and experience in the field of preventive arrest and alternative measures.
The participants were welcomed by Ion Druta, President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Kevin Lanigan, Senior Justice Advisor within the US Embassy in Moldova and Alexandra Nica, Head of the Training and Research department of the National Institute of Justice.
The meeting served as a platform for communication for representatives of the Moldovan law system: judges and assistants of the Supreme Court of Justice and US federal judges, Dan Aaron Polster, district judge for the Northern District of Ohio and Eduardo Robreno, senior district judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Another topic addressed at the roundtable targeted motivation of judgments in the Republic of Moldova. Holger Hembach, Expert of the United Nations Development Program, presented some conclusions and recommendations that were included in the Report on „Motivation and Elaboration of judgments in the Republic of Moldova”.
US federal judges are for the second time in the Republic of Moldova with the aim of conducting trainings and sharing American experience on various aspects of legal procedure.
