Between July 12 and August 30, 2023, prosecutors and advisers to prosecutors from the Balti Prosecutor's Office developed their language skills under the hybrid training program „Legal English”, offered by the National Institute of Justice and which took place in two formats online and face to face.
The respective e-course was also offered to the beneficiaries of the National School of Clerks in Romania, an institution with which NIJ established a partnership starting from 2015, by signing the Cooperation Protocol between the two training centers.
Training sessions, consisting of 15 modules, focused exclusively on legal texts issued by the European Court of Human Rights or the Court of Justice of the European Union and address topics of European law. Within each module, the trainees, under the guidance of a tutor, formed and capitalized on their skills in several dimensions: reading, listening, grammar, vocabulary and communication. The practical nature of the training concerned exercises and debates with the use of legal terminology.
We mention that the e-course „Legal English” was developed thanks to the project „Support for justice sector reform in Moldova – Strengthening national capacities in providing effective skills-based training for legal professionals”, implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) with financial support from the US Government.
