Today, March 12, 2019, at the National Institute of Justice the graduation exams for the candidates to the positions of judge and prosecutor have started. During 18 months, the future judges and prosecutors have developed efficient skills for the upcoming professional activity.
The graduation exams comprise two parts: the written test and the verbal examination. During the next days, the 25 candidates to the position of judge and the 19 candidates to the position of prosecutor will pass the written test, which requires them to draft two procedural acts based on a concrete case, selected electronically, randomly for each participant. Thus, the future judges will draft a judgment in a civil case and a conviction in a criminal case, while the future prosecutors – an indictment and a dismissal order of the criminal procedure in a concrete case.
The second stage of the graduation exam consists in the evaluation of the internship. During 30 weeks, the trainees have developed the necessary skills for their future professional activity by undertaking internships in courts, prosecutor’s offices and criminal prosecution bodies. On April 9 and 10, 2019, the future graduates will be assessed by the Commission for the graduation exams according to the criteria established by the Regulation on the organization of the NIJ trainees internship who candidate to the position of judge and prosecutor.
It is also worth mentioning that, starting with March 18, the persons who candidate to the position of judge and prosecutor on the basis of their work experience, will also pass the accession exam in the legal profession. Totally, 73 applicants registered for the position of prosecutor and 118 applicants registered for the position of judge.
