15. 07. 2024

The National Institute of Justice has started the admission exam for the initial training course of future judges and prosecutors. The selection process, structured in two main stages, includes the electronic written test (an eliminatory psychological test and a specialized test) and the oral test.

Starting today, July 15, 2024, potential candidates to the judge and prosecutor positions sustain the psychological eliminatory test. The results, calculated automatically by a soft, will determine the eligibility of competitors for the next phase – the specialized test. It consists of a grid test of 400 questions, randomly generated by the NIJ information system, out of the 1600 available in the following disciplines: civil law, civil procedural law, administrative law, administrative procedural law, criminal law, criminal procedural law and human rights. Thus, the software will create individual tests for participants in the admission contest, eliminating the possibility of repeating questions.

According to the Calendar of the admission contest, the oral stage of the exam is planned between September 30 and October 4, 2024 and will include solving of two cases from the above-mentioned disciplines.

To ensure transparency, both written and oral tests will be recorded audio and video.

A new element of this year's admission is aimed at evaluating competitors by two committees specialized in civil law and civil procedure law, respectively, in criminal law and criminal procedure law. Another important feature of the current session is the additional integrity verification of the candidates. According to the amendments of Law no. 152/2006 on the National Institute of Justice, the NIJ will request the National Integrity Authority to analyze the declarations of assets, and the National Anticorruption Center and the Intelligence and Security Service to provide information on the integrity of those who promoted the first stage. If, following the control carried out, it will be found that the applicant to become a trainee of the NIJ has violated the legal regime of declaring personal assets and interests or does not correspond to the irreproachable reputation criterion provided by the Law no. 544/1995 on the status of the judge and Law no. 3/2016 on the Prosecution, then the candidate will be removed from the competition, through a reasoned decision of the specialized admission committees

This year, the Council of the National Institute of Justice, in accordance with the decisions of the Superior Council of Magistracy and the Superior Council of Prosecutors on the establishment the number of places for admission contest, decided on -25 places for the candidates to the position of judge and 25 places to the position of prosecutor.
