Between July 4 and 5, 2019, in Strasbourg, France, was held the Annual Network Conference of the Council of Europe Programme on Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP).
The event served as the framework for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe and brought together about 200 participants, representatives of national judicial and prosecutorial schools, Bar associations, as well as representatives of the longstanding partners of the HELP Programme. From the National Institute of Justice, Diana Scobioala, Director, HELP National Focal Point, and Ecaterina Popa, the Head of the Training and Research Department, have been delegated to participate in this meeting.
The conference highlighted the contribution of the HELP Program to the protection of human rights in Europe, being a crucial tool in increasing the capacities of legal professionals to apply the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Particular attention was paid to presenting the new HELP courses launched last year. Also, this forum brought attention to the program's achievements under the regional projects launched in the Western Balkans, the Russian Federation, Turkey, as well as in the Eastern Partnership countries.
We remind that up to now, seven HELP electronic courses for the representatives of the national law system have been adapted to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova and launched within the NIJ, with an important impact for the professional development of the beneficiaries of the National Institute of Justice.
