Representatives of the judiciary institutions, delegates from the European Commission and international justice organizations met for the 26th edition of the General Assembly of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) in Stockholm, Sweden, from 15 to 16 June 2023. Organized under the auspices of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with the support of the Swedish Academy of Judicial Training and the Swedish Prosecutor's Office, the forum gathered together 150 participants. The National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova was represented by Ecaterina Popa, ad interim Director, and Olga Marandici, head of the International Relations Section.
In the opening session of the event spoke the Director of the Swedish Academy of Judicial Training, Erik Brattgårds, and the Director of the Swedish Criminal Investigation Authority, Stephan Uttersköld, and the Secretary General of the European Judicial Training Network, Ingrid Derveaux.
The agenda of the EJTN General Assembly included several topics related to the annual report of the Secretary General, the annual report of the Steering Committee, presentation of the activities of the European Judicial Training Network for 2024 and of the Swedish training systems. There have also been exchanges of views on the EJTN's response to the challenges of the Ecological Pact that will be implemented by 2050.
One of the important points of the event was the creation of the working group for digitalization, which will help EJTN to address training needs on the development of digital skills and cybersecurity, as well as emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
The participation of NIJ representatives in the General Assembly was possible gratitude to the European Judicial Training Network and the Embassy of the French Republic in the Republic of Moldova.
The National Institute of Justice has the status of member-observer of the European Judicial Training Network since July 1, 2016, with the entry into force of the Agreement on the Association of the Republic of Moldova with the European Union.
