Today, October 2, 2020, the final meeting of the Steering Committee for monitoring the implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2017-2020 took place online. The meeting brought together Council of Europe experts and representatives of relevant national institutions.
In her speech, Diana Scobioala stated that the National Institute of Justice maintains its position on the judicial reform and continues to plead for the only way to access the positions of judge and prosecutor to be through the NIJ as it was conceptualized at the founding stage. She also spoke about the achievements of the National Institute of Justice in implementing the projects and actions within its competence and which were included in the CoE Action Plan 2017-2020, as well as about the priorities of the new draft of the Action Plan to be started in the period 2021-2024.
Currently, the National Institute of Justice is the beneficiary of at least 7 projects initiated by the Council of Europe, in which it has carried out numerous training activities, conferences, workshops, as well as other events covering the priority areas of human rights protection related to preventing and combating economic crime, strengthening the efficiency and quality of the judiciary, combating violence against women and children, ensuring women's access to justice, protection against discrimination, etc. Also, in order to strengthen the capacities of the beneficiaries in these fields, were adapted to the internal legal order 10 HELP courses in which 1232 specialists in the field of law have participated.
