The need to organize training activities in the field of trafficking in human beings (THB) for actors from justice sector was the purpose of the meeting between Ecaterina Popa, ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, Marina Leu, ad interim head of the Continuous training section, Diana Doroș, head of Department for human rights and social dialogue, State Chancellery, and Natalia Nicula, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The meeting took place on Wednesday, 18 May 2022, at the National Institute of Justice.
During the meeting, were brought into question the cooperation of these three entities on the training area within the UNODC project "Unblocking traffickers' impunity and supporting justice for victims of human trafficking in South East Europe". Thus, it was agreed to develop and conduct multidisciplinary courses, using mock trails based on real cases, as well as to organize thematic schools in which international experts could also participate.
In addition, we mention that the National Institute of Justice carry out the training of prosecutors and judges in the field of combating crimes of trafficking in human beings and other related crimes, with a victim-centered approach, being among the objectives included in the National Strategy for preventing and combating trafficking in human beings for the years 2018-2023 and in the National Action Plan in the field of human rights for the years 2018-2022.
