Today, June 27, 2023, the partnership between the National Institute of Justice and the General Inspectorate of Police was officially updated by signing a new Cooperation Agreement. Signatories of the document were the ad interim Director of NIJ, Ecaterina Popa, and the Head of GIP, Viorel Cernauteanu.
The provisions of the Cooperation Agreement create premises for further cooperation of the Parties in order to promote legal knowledge, respect for human rights, the values of democracy and the rule of law.
According to the document, mixed trainings, study visits and debates will be organized that will address various topics of common interest to judges, prosecutors and law enforcement agencies. At the same time, exchanges of training materials, statistical data, results of scientific research, brochures and specialized publications, methodical recommendations and other documents in the field of professional training, etc. will be carried out.
During the event, in gratitude for success in developing and strengthening interinstitutional and professional cooperation at national and regional level, the head of the GIP handed to the ad interim director of NIJ the distinction „For cooperation” of the General Inspectorate of Police. After discussing the possible actions to be implemented in order to develop the professional skills of NIJ and GIP beneficiaries, the partners made a tour of the Institute.
We mention that the previous Cooperation Agreement between the National Institute of Justice and the General Inspectorate of Police was signed in 2018, for a period of five years.
