On June 12-13, 2024, the General Assembly of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) took place. This year's edition was organized in Brussels, under the aegis of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with the support of the Belgian judicial training institute.
The event brought together representatives of judicial training institutions from the member states of the European Union, the European Commission and international organizations from the justice sector. On behalf of the National Institute of Justice participated Adrian Cerbu, ad Interim Director, and Olga Marandici, advisor to the Director of the NIJ.
The programme of the EJTN General Assembly included presentations on the activities of working groups specialized in judicial training methods, exchange programs, digitization and linguistic-legal skills, as well as on, workshops that focused on strategic topics for legal training institutions. Thus, at the workshop „Improvement of collaboration: continuous support and partnership with EJTN observers from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine” were discussed the continuity and strengthening of cooperation, in the context of the complex process of accession of these countries to the European community, and provide opportunities for the development and exchange of best practices with EU member states and other EU candidate countries.
Also, the event launched the publication Judges@Europe 2023 which focuses on the rule of law and the good administration of justice in the digital age, being edited by Stanislas Adam, Ingrid Derveaux, Gianluca Grasso and Fernando Vaz Ventura, with a preface by Siofra O'Leary.
Attendance of the delegation of the National Institute of Justice at the General Assembly was possible thanks to the European Judicial Training Network and the Joint Project of the European Union and the Council of Europe „Support to the Justice Reform”.
The National Institute of Justice has the status of observer member of the European Judicial Training Network of schools of magistracy of the European Union member states since July 1, 2016, with the entry into force of the Association Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova.
