On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, Ecaterina Popa, had a meeting with the management of the Private Educational Institution "Orizont" Theoretical High School from the Republic of Moldova - Domocos Szocos, General Director and educational advisor from the Educational Institutions "Lumina" from Romania, and Umit Oz, Deputy General Director, NIJ trainer. The meeting was also attended by Olga Marandici, head of the International Relations Section within the NIJ.
The dialogue between parties was focused on the topics related to the implementation of the Collaboration Agreement, recently concluded between the two institutions to reaffirm bilateral cooperation in order to improve the linguistic skills of professionals in the justice system and the development of legal culture among the young generation of Republic of Moldova.
Thus, during the discussions, were addressed issues regarding the organization of legal education activities for high school students, as well as the conduct of Romanian language courses for legal actors who represent certain ethnic groups, especially for the staff of the courts of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. Also, in the exchange of opinions, the importance of English language courses provided by High School’s teachers for NIJ trainees was emphasized, including for candidates to the positions of judges and prosecutors and for NIJ trainers (judges, prosecutors, etc.).
During the visit, the guests also had a guided tour of the NIJ, through the study rooms, the computer room and the trial simulation room.
