A delegation of the Federal Ministry of Justice from the Federal Republic of Germany, conducted by Benjamin Strasser, parliamentary state secretary, is, these days, on an official visit to Chisinau. On Thursday, 23 May 2024, accompanied by H.E. Margaret Maria Uebber, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova, members of the delegation - Nicolas Hellmuth, personal assistant, Anne Zimmermann, Head of the International Legal Cooperation Department, Alexandra Albrecht, General Director of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), had a meeting with the Ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, Adrian Cerbu, and Olga Marandici, advisor to the Director of the NIJ, head of the International Relations Section.
The discussions focused on the current needs and challenges in the field of judicial training of the National Institute of Justice in the context of the initiation of negotiations for the accession of our country to the European Union and the extraordinary evaluation of judges and prosecutors in office.
In particular, the Ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice thanked the officials, both, for the expertise provided by German professionals in the development and implementation of the Administrative Code in the Republic of Moldova, as well as for the training and study visits intended for the newly appointed magistrates in the panels that will examine the administrative litigation cases.
During the dialogue, the usefulness of developing didactic materials as intellectual property of the Institute was highlighted, including the updating of existing course supports to make the training process of NIJ beneficiaries more efficient, as well as the organization of trainings in the field of criminal justice, administrative law and European law.
In turn, the German side proposed to expand in the Republic of Moldova a project successfully implemented in Romania by the German IRZ Foundation. The project would target training for judges and prosecutors on the hate crime segment, including online environment.
