On Thursday, July 12, 2018, was held the meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the UNDP Project on “Strengthening the Technical Capacities of National Institutions for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights”, financed by the Government of Denmark. The event brought together representatives of beneficiary institutions mandated in the areas of human rights, criminal justice, governance and anti-corruption, including the National Institute of Justice - the strategic partner and the key beneficiary of the project.
Diana Scobioala, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Alla Scvorţova, UNDP Moldova Specialist Program, Evghenii Goloşceapov, UNDP Moldova Program Coordinator, and Alexandru Cocîrţă, Project Manager, spoke at the meeting. They referred to the results recorded during the first semester of 2018 and to the prospects for implementing the following activities.
The NIJ Director pointed out the activities carried out within the project, including the process simulations as an innovative method of training at the NIJ; the development of three new distance learning courses that have been integrated into the curriculum for future judges and prosecutors, and in the future they will be adapted to the needs of prosecutors and judges already in office and included in the continuous training process. Also, Diana Scobioala spoke about the positive results of the electronic admissions and testing, as well as about the implementation of the electronic tools for the graduation process: the random selection of the topics through the information system, the automated coding of works, the use of electronic borders, etc.
The UNDP Project “Strengthening the Technical Capabilities of National Institutions for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights”, launched in 2015 with the financial support of the Government of Denmark, aims to improve the protection of human rights and the rule of law by strengthening the institutional capacities of key actors in relation to justice and vulnerable groups.
