Today, October 19, 2022, on the Lawyer's Day, the National Institute of Justice marked the beginning of a new initial training course for candidates to the position of judge and prosecutor.
The launch ceremony was attended by trainees, representatives of the important institutions in the justice sector, the diplomatic corps of the embassies of the French Republic, Romania and the USA in the Republic of Moldova, trainers and international experts. Also, the event was attended, online, by the Director of the Directorate General Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe, Christophe Poirel, who, in his speech, noted the good cooperation and achievements carried out jointly since the founding of the NIJ.
Addressing to the 25 candidates admitted to studies, Ecaterina Popa, the ad Interim Director of NIJ, emphasized the following: „Here, at the Institute, you have an appropriate environment for training and developing the necessary skills for the profession you have chosen. Your mission in these months will be to learn to be good professionals with fairness, verticality and dignity on which to lean on and find yourself.”
With congratulation messages and guidance for the new trainees and for the National Institute of Justice came Vladimir Timofti, ad interim President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Ion Munteanu, ad Interim General Prosecutor, Ovidiu Naftanaila, first collaborator of the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Moldova, Brett Rose, Director of the Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Section of the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, Pierre de Monte, the liaison magistrate from the Embassy of the French Republic in Bucharest with competencies for the Republic of Moldova and Romania, Diana Rotundu, President of the NIJ Council, Angela Motuzoc, President of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, Victor Micu, member of the Superior Council of Magistrates, and Liliana Catan, President of the Admission Commission 2022.
We mention that, up to present, the National Institute of Justice has offered 14 graduate promotions to the justice system, among them 300 candidates to the position of prosecutor and 212 – to the position of judge. At this year’s admission, 10 places were taken out for candidates to the position of judge and 15 for candidates to the position of prosecutor. 78 competitors met the necessary conditions for participation, taking the psychological (electronic) eliminatory test, the specialized (electronic) test and the oral test.
