Judicial professional training in the field of rights of persons with disabilities, on the agenda of NIJ and CDPD

The implementation of the actions from the "National Program for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities for 2017-2022" was the subject of a meeting of Ecaterina Popa, Interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, with Vitalie Mester, Executive Director of the Public Association Center for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CDPD). The meeting that took place on February 24, 2022, was attended by Cezara-Elena Polisca, counselor of the NIJ Director, head of the didactic-methodical and training of trainers section, Ion Chirtoacă, judge, NIJ trainer, and Elena Stajila, jurist, program director CDPD.

The interim director of the NIJ showed her openness to provide the necessary support and expertise to develop policy documents aimed at continuing the training of specialists in the judiciary on respect for the fundamental rights and freedoms of persons with disabilities.

During the talks, the Executive Director of the CDPD noted the changes in ensuring the physical accessibility of people with certain disabilities to the NIJ infrastructure, being among the few institutions that have increased the level of accessibility of people with disabilities, by installing ramps and tactile pavements, an elevator for access to the second floor of the building, by adapting its own rooms to special needs, etc.

The Center for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is a public association established in order to promote, defend and monitor the observance of the rights of persons with disabilities on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
