On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, ad Interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, Adrian Cerbu, received the visit of the representatives of the National Agency for Prevention and Combating Violence against Women and Family Violence (ANPCV) – Viorica Timbalari, General Manager, Ecaterina Colomita, Head of coordinating the implementation of policies and interinstitutional activity Department, Aurica Cebotari, Head of the training and methodological support Section and Valeria Busuioc, communicator.
Also, at the meeting, that aimed to initiate collaboration in achieving joint actions on the segment of violence against women and domestic violence, was present Ion Bocan, Head of the Continuous training Section of the National Institute of Justice.
The Ad interim Director of the NIJ, Adrian Cerbu, expressed his openness for the implementation of mock trials with the participation of multidisciplinary teams (EMD) in cases of violence, as well as for the joint training of the EMD with judges and prosecutors, in order to increase the awareness of justice professionals.
Viorica Timbalari, General Director of ANPCV, stressed the importance of ensuring a prompt and coordinated response from state authorities in cases of violence. This reconfirms the Agency's mission and priorities in promoting a safe and violence-free society.
Also, during the meeting were discussed issues related to the investigation and judicial examination of criminal cases on the domestic violence crimes, as well problems arising from the court examination of such crimes, the training of interviewers in the field of hearing the child victim/witness of offence, as well as measures to protect victims of domestic violence.
