Follow-up with NIJ trainers on the evolution of the course „Developing skills for elaborating procedural acts”

On Monday, February 27, 2023, at the National Institute of Justice took place the seminar entitled „Legal reasoning in the initial training of prosecutors and judges”. The activity aimed at the complex analysis and evaluation of the new course „Developing skills for elaborating procedural acts” which intends to strengthen the capacities for legal drafting of candidates to the positions of judge and prosecutor in the mock trials.

The ToT for NIJ trainers who were directly involved in piloting the course for the trainees was facilitated by experts Kanstantsin Dzehtsiarou, PhD, Associate Professor, University of Liverpool, UK and Petru Balan, master in law, lawyer, NIJ trainer.

During the discussions, the participants analyzed the new requirements of the training methodology through simulative activities modified based on the results recorded in the launched course, as well as the concept of legal reasoning as an integral part of the respective methodology. At the same time, in the context of a pragmatic and critical approach, the gaps and the necessary additions to be implemented have been identified.

The training of trainers was organized by the National Institute of Justice and UNDP project “Support for justice sector reform in Moldova – strengthening national capacities in providing effective skills-based training for legal professionals”, with the financial support of the US Government. The project, whose primary beneficiary is the National Institute of Justice, aims to strengthen the capacities of national structures to provide effective, skills-based training to law professionals.
