On 28 and 29 June 2018, a paper competition for the trainees of both the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova and the National Institute of Magistracy of Romania was held for the first time at the premises of the National History Museum of the Republic of Moldova.
The event, dedicated to the Centenary of the Great Union, started with the welcome and encouragement speeches form the part of the jury’s members: Diana Scobioala, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Cristina Rotaru-Radu, the Director of the National Institute of Magistracy, Angela Motuzoc, the President of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, Victor Micu, the President of the Superior Council of Magistracy and Ghenadie Pavliuc, deputy President of the Chisinau Court, Centru Headquarters.
The participating papers of this year addressed various topics concerning “The integration of legal institutions following the Union in 1918 in the interwar period” and offered to the participants the possibility to analyze and research the noteworthy events that culminated with the Great Union on December 1, 1918. The topics of the researches were focused mainly on the successes in the field of the bessarabian judicial system’s integration and on the strengthening of the rule of law within the Greater Romania.
The jury has assessed the papers presented within the competition according to the following criteria: the originality of the presentation, the proper identification and explanation of the main reflected issues, the reasoning of the exposed opinion, the correctness of the terms used and the adequate legal language.
The best papers were awarded as follows: for the trainees of the National Institute of Magistracy of Romania, first place - Alexandru Radu Togan, second place – Nicolae Caraus, third place – Elena Aurelia Balu; for the trainees of the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, first place – Maria Bizgan, second place – Petru Iarmaliuc, third place – Nicolae Negru.
The activity was organized by the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the National Institute of Magistracy of Romania on the basis of the Collaboration Protocol signed in 2014 between the two judicial training institutions.
