Council of Europe Week in the Republic of Moldova began with the opening of an outdoor drawing exhibition organized by the CoE Project „Strengthening the human rights protection of refugees and migrants in the Republic of Moldova” and the National Institute of Justice. The event took place on Monday, July 10, 2023, in the Council of Europe Square of the capital to mark the 28 years since our country's accession to the Council of Europe.
In the opening, spoke Giulia Re, ad Interim Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, Victor Lapusneanu, Director, Multilateral Cooperation Directorate within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Ecaterina Popa, ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, H.E. Margaret Maria Uebber, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Tomasz Kobzdej, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Moldova.
„Through this exhibition, we want to highlight not only the talent of children, but also the results of a good cooperation between the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe. We appreciate the involvement of the CoE and the CoE Office in Chisinau both in increasing the level of performance of NIJ beneficiaries and in diversifying and increasing the quality of training programs and services”, said Ecaterina Popa, ad interim Director of NIJ.
Representatives of diplomatic missions, public authorities, civil society organizations, children and passers-by had the opportunity to admire the award-winning works created in the National Fine Arts Competition „My house is also your house: together in safety”, organized between February and May 2023 by the National Institute of Justice, the School of Fine Arts „Alexei Sciusev”, the Office of the Council of Europe in Chisinau and the Center of Law Lawyers. The exhibition reveals a series of artistic compositions made by children and Youngers aged between 11 and 21 across the country and reflects current problems related to migration and refugees, human rights and security, social inclusion of people who fled the war, etc.
During the event, an instrumental music recital was given by the pupils of the Theoretical High School „Onisifor Ghibu” from Chisinau.
