In September and October 2023, beneficiaries of the National Institute of Justice were in professional training at Romanian courts and prosecutors' offices. The initiation programs lasted three days each, being an important part in the process of acquiring new knowledge, sharing experiences and developing professional skills.
During the given period, seven internships took place. 18 NIJ trainees and graduates, candidates to the positions of judge and prosecutor, and 10 judges and prosecutors in office were assigned to the Suceava Court, the Iasi Court of Appeal, the courts in the district of the Bucharest Tribunal, the Bucharest Court of Appeal, the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court Iasi, prosecution units within the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court and the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
In order to know the peculiarities of the Romanian judicial system and to take over the best practices in the field, the beneficiaries of the Institute had meetings with their counterparts, became familiar with the activity of the Romanian magistrates, they attended several hearings with procedural aspects in the examination of civil, criminal, administrative, insolvency, etc.
We mention that the participation of Moldovan judges in the conference took place thanks to the project ”Strengthening the justice system by organizing expertise transfer missions addressed to judges and prosecutors from the Republic of Moldova”, implemented by the National Institute of Magistracy of Romania and National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, with the support of the Agency for International Development Cooperation (RoAid), under the coordination of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The cooperation directions of the project refers to three components: developing the capacities of NIJ beneficiaries through continuous training activities organized by NIM; performing internships for NIJ trainees and specialized internships for judges and prosecutors at the homologous institutions; assistance on strengthening the capacity of the Legal Information Centre during a study visit of NIJ employees.
