Between October 8-9, 2020, as part of the process of continuous training of judges, was organized the autumn school "International Standards in the Field of Asylum".
The training activity aimed at familiarizing participants with the international legal framework on asylum or other forms of international protection and the procedural rights guaranteed to asylum seekers; knowledge of the specific standards needed to assess credibility (documentary evidence, expert conclusions and information from the country of origin) and the procedure for assessing credibility in the context of the European asylum system, etc.
During the autumn school, the particularities of examining asylum cases, the psychological profiling in the courtroom, including the specific behaviour of an asylum seeker, as well as case studies on identifying and collecting information from the country of origin were analysed.
The training sessions were provided by Oleg Palii, lawyer, expert of the “Law Center of Advocates”, Sergiu Gaina, protection officer, Regional Representation for Central Europe UNHCR Budapest, and Angelica Russu, psychologist.
The autumn school was organized by the National Institute of Justice and the AO "Law Center of Advocates", within the project "Legal aid for refugees", funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
