For two days, on the 8 and 9 of July 2020, the annual conference of the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) "Marking 70 years of the ECHR in critical times” is occurring. Diana Scobioala, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, national coordinator of the HELP Program in the Republic of Moldova, and Ecaterina Popa, the head of the Training and Research Department, are participating in the online conference.
The event brings together representatives of the judicial schools of the Council of Europe member states in order to discuss ways for improving the results of human rights training and streamline the cooperation between all members and partners of the HELP network.
This year's conference objectives aim to highlight the response of the CoE HELP Programme to the situation caused by the coronavirus outbreak, to mark the 70th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights, to inform on the current challenges for the respect of certain rights guaranteed with the ECHR and on the HELP response to those challenges through the HELP online courses. Also, during the e-conference, will be presented the newly established Open Council of Europe Academic Network (OCEAN) and also, will be discussed the links and synergies between OCEAN and HELP.
The annual conference of the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) is organised under the auspices of the Greek Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
We mention that, from the beginning of the year until now, the National Institute of Justice has delivered to its beneficiaries nine electronic HELP courses adapted to the national legislation and attended by 314 representatives of the legal system of the Republic of Moldova.
