In order to familiarize young students with the activity, role, and place of the National Institute of Justice in the justice system of the Republic of Moldova, as well as to encourage them to participate in the admission competition for initial training courses to become judges and prosecutors and to feel the pulse of a court process, the National Institute of Justice opened its doors to its potential audience.
Thus, on April 7 and 10, 2023, NIJ was visited by two groups of law students from the State University of Moldova. The young people were accompanied by Elena Belei, PhD in Law, associate professor, head of the Department of Procedural Law, and Gheorghe Stratulat, judge at the Central Office of the Chisinau District Court.
In discussions with the Ad interim Director of NIJ, Ecaterina Popa, and the head of the Continuous Training Section, NIJ graduate and trainer Ion Bocan, the students learned about the functioning of the Institute. However, the emphasis was on the procedure and conditions for admission to NIJ, as well as on the training methods applied in the initial training course that develop practical competencies and skills useful for the chosen profession, such as simulation activities or internship at courts and prosecutor's offices.
Also, the aspiring students had the opportunity to play the roles of judges, court clerks, lawyers, parties, and witnesses while simulating a civil lawsuit with a counterclaim and a family lawsuit. Both cases were moderated by the graduates and trainers of the National Institute of Justice, judges at the Central Office of the Chisinau District Court, Natalia Russu and Gheorghe Stratulat.
