On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the National Institute of Justice was held the seminar on “Practical aspects of the exception of unconstitutionality”. As a guest to offer the expertise in the field was the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova.
The professional development activity takes place within the continuous training program of judges and prosecutors and was preceded by a bilateral meeting between Domnica Manole, President of the Constitutional Court, and Ecaterina Popa, ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice.
During the dialog, the focus was on the need to familiarize the audience of the National Institute of Justice with the experiences of constitutional jurisdiction, by organizing common activities, public lessons and study visits. In this context, the opportunity to conclude a memorandum of understanding that would legislate the intended purpose was discussed.
The seminar “Practical aspects of the exception of unconstitutionality”, aimed to judges and prosecutors, was also facilitated by trainer Teodor Papuc, deputy chief secretary of the Constitutional Court. The agenda of the training program included general aspects concerning constitutional courts and the European model for the protection of fundamental rights. Also, the procedure for the application of the criteria for the admissibility of an exception to the Constitutional Court and the structure of an exception of unconstitutionality were also addressed in detail, in the event that it is lifted ex officio.
On February 24 and 27, 2023, other beneficiaries of the National Institute of Justice, judges and prosecutors, will participate in the seminar with the same generic.
