In order of strengthening the knowledges of the substantial law that can contribute to make a difference between rape of a minor victim and sexual intercourse with a minor, the trainers of the National Institute of Justice attended the conference "Legal framing of acts of sexual aggression committed against minors", organized by the National Institute of Magistracy (NIM). The event, designed for judges and prosecutors specialized in solving criminal cases involving minors, took place between October 13-14, 2022, in Bucharest, Romania.
During the conference, were provided examples of good practices regarding the investigation proceedings that have as an object the crimes of sexual life with minor victims from countries such as Spain, Germany and France. It was also discussed the Romanian resolutions methods and the new approaches necessary in the investigation of these cases, as well as the deficiencies that appear in the administration of the specific evidence, including the mechanisms that could psychologically distort the framing of the facts (social pressure, prejudices, mentalities, etc.).
At the same time, the event occasioned the book launch "The power of professional secrecy of lawyers", whose authors are Manuel Jaén Vallejo, judge at the Madrid Tribunal and Mirja Feldmann judge at the Mannheim District Court in Baden-Württemberg
We would like to mention that the participation of the NIJ trainers in the conference took place within the project ”Strengthening the justice system by organizing expertise transfer missions addressed to judges and prosecutors from the Republic of Moldova”, implemented by the National Institute of Magistracy due to the support of the Agency for International Development Cooperation (RoAid), under the coordination of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, due to the support provided for the judicial system reform. The cooperation directions of the project concern the involvement of judges and prosecutors from the Republic of Moldova in professional development activities organized by the NIM, study visits to institutions within the Romanian judicial system, as well as the invitation as experts of NIM trainers to trainings for Moldovan magistrates.
