The ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, Ecaterina Popa, met on Thursday, 24 March 2022, the liaison magistrate from the Embassy of the French Republic in Bucharest, with competencies for the Republic of Moldova and Romania, Pierre de Monte. The meeting was also attended by Cezara-Elena Polisca, advisor to the NIJ Director, head of the Didactics, Methodology and Training of Trainers Section.
The discussion was focused on the cooperation in the training area for representatives of the national legal system. In this context, Ecaterina Popa mentioned that judicial training activities, as well as e-courses, provided by the HELP Programme of the Council of Europe, the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN), the Romanian National Institute of Magistracy and National School of Clerks, have a positive impact for the professional development of NIJ beneficiaries. For his part, Pierre de Monte expressed his willingness to support the National Institute of Justice in the training of future judges and prosecutors, allowing some trainees to carry out internships or study visits to the European Court of Human Rights.
During the meeting were also discussed issues related to the organization of training programs both on legal reasoning under the Moldovan-French comparative aspect and on management and leadership for judges and prosecutors from the Republic of Moldova.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to intensify cooperation in the training segment, as well as to develop interconnected activities with European judicial schools.
