Judges, prosecutors, heads of secretariats, legal assistants, as well as law students / masters of the State University of Moldova and the University of European Studies of Moldova participated on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in the launch of a new round of training in the distance course “Access to justice for women”, developed by the team of the Council of Europe's European Program for the Training of Lawyers in Human Rights (HELP Program).
In her welcome message, the Interim Director of the NIJ, Ecaterina Popa, reiterated the importance of the cooperation between of the National Institute of Justice with the HELP Program of the Council of Europe, which ensures the quality and continuity of judicial training of justice legal professionals.
About the value of the event, the HELP Program and Platform, as well as the course mentioned, spoke His Excellence E.S. Steven Fisher, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Republic of Moldova, Eva Pastrana, Head of Justice and Human Rights Training Division at Council of Europe, Ana Medarska-Lazova, Deputy Head of HELP, CoE, Douglas Maxwell, Project Manager, CoE, and Anca Sandescu, senior project officer, CoE.
The interventions of the national tutors of the HELP Program - Ecaterina Popa and Tatiana Ciaglic - were centered on the way and the stages of the training program translated into Romanian and adapted in accordance with the national internal legal order.
The HELP “Access to justice for women”, course provides an interactive overview of international and European standards on women's rights and gender equality, jurisprudence and good practices in the course. It will be active from January 18 to March 18, 2022, and those who will pass the course will receive certificates issued by HELP.
