The participants of the summer camp "YOUthAct - Youth for Justice" came today, July 7, 2021, to the National Institute of Justice to be involved in activities carried out in order to help them understand human rights, their protection mechanisms, and the national system of justice.
Valentina Contescu, the head of the NIJ's Institutional Management Department, introduced the students to the way of functioning of the only training center for future judges and prosecutors in the country, showing them videos about the National Institute of Justice and the trainings on three dimensions: initial training, continuous training and training of trainers. Also, the camp participants took a tour of the study rooms of the NIJ beneficiaries.
During the day, in addition to discussions with representatives of the Council on Preventing and Eliminating of Discrimination and Ensuring Equality, Ziarul de Garda and Promo-Lex on discrimination and the role of the media and civil society in defending human rights, the young people took part in a thematic quest based on the drawings of the Republican Competition of fine Arts for students "Children's rights", organized by the Institute and the School of Fine Arts "A. Sciusev”, between February and May 2021. Being on a mission to search for the messages transmitted in artistic creations, the adventure helped teenagers to discover both the rights found in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and invented rights, but very desired by children, such as the right to motherhood, the right to friendship, the right to dreams, etc.
Inspired by the paintings exhibited in the Institute, the young people, during the workshop "Justice through art", being guided by a professional artist, displayed their creativity to illustrate a right.
The summer camp "YOUthAct - Youth for Justice", which takes place between July 5-9, 2021, is attended by 28 high school students from Criuleni, Cimislia, Comrat and Soroca, with leadership potential, eager to know, find solutions and act in respect of human rights. The initiative is part of the project "Strengthening efficiency and access to justice in Moldova", implemented by UNDP Moldova with the support of Sweden, being organized in partnership with the National Institute of Justice.
