On Thursday, February 4, 2021, the Director of the National Institute of Justice participated in online discussions on the analytical note "Judicial integrity as key issue of the Moldovan justice system reform", developed by Victoria Sanduta, judge, President of the Association of Judges „Vocea Justiției” (the voice of Justice), in collaboration with the Foundation Friedrich Ebert Moldova.
During the event, Diana Scobioala made a brief comment on the findings and recommendations of the analytical note from the perspective of her experience in 2013-2015 as an elected member of the College of Performance Evaluation of Judges of the Superior Council of Magistracy. At the same time, she appreciated the idea of establishing a Psychological Council, mentioning that there is a strong reasoning to introduce a general personality test in the evaluation of judges. As the NIJ has already introduced such a filter in the admission process of future trainees – candidates to the positions of judge and prosecutor, the institution she leads could provide support in this regard.
"Judicial integrity as key issue of the Moldovan justice system reform" is an analysis in the field of judicial integrity in the Republic of Moldova and comes with a set of recommendations to remove several gaps related to the assessment and ensuring judicial integrity, as well as to the communication of judicial system representatives with the press and the public.
