In the context of the international campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence", the National Institute of Justice organized on Monday, December 7, 2020, a public lesson for future judges and prosecutors. The lecture, held online, was given by Arina Turcan, lawyer of the Women's Law Center (CDF), NIJ trainer, and aimed to raise awareness among participants on the issue of violence against women.
During the activity, the candidates to the positions of judge and prosecutor found out about the phenomenon of domestic violence from a legal and social point of view, the particularities of the victims and the support provided by CDF in these cases; the incidence of the crime of domestic violence; practical aspects regarding the notification and obtaining of the protection order; as well as the active role of the police, the prosecutor and the court in providing the necessary support to victims of domestic violence.
We remind you that "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" is an international campaign that begins annually on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on December 10, the International Day of Human Rights. During this period, various actions are taking place around the world to inform the public about gender-based violence.
