The application of professional knowledge through simulation activities continues online. In front of the monitors, the trainees of the National Institute of Justice have the opportunity to demonstrate the necessary skills in an improvised trial at the European Court of Human Rights.
Today and tomorrow, the future judges and prosecutors, in the role of applicants, representatives of the Governmental Agent, third intervenient and amicus curiae, will simulate trials, based on scenarios focused on issues related to freedom of religion and the right to education, mental/physical integrity and bioethics, freedom of expression and journalistic sources.
Divided into eight groups of five trainees, the future judges and prosecutors will be evaluated by the NIJ trainers: Diana Scobioala, PhD in International Law, Director of the NIJ, Oleg Rotari, the Governmental Agent of the Republic of Moldova before the EctHR, and Ion Bocan, legal assistant, graduate of the NIJ. The judging will be done taking into account the following criteria: the manner of exposing the facts, the language used, the applicability of the substantive law to the circumstances of the case, the jurisprudence claimed, the relevance of the questions and the quality of the answer, the compliance with the procedure.
The ECtHR simulated trials are carried out, according to the Plan of the initial training of candidates to the positions of judge and prosecutor, within the course "Human Rights: The Universal System of Protection and the System of the European Convention on Human Rights".
