A group of judges and prosecutors participated on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, in the continuous training course "Environmental assessment - practical applicability and legal effects".
The training activity was carried out online, setting as objectives for the participants to identify the national legal framework on environmental assessment; to analyze the particularities of the relevant national legal framework; to identify environmental assessment tools; to estimate the progress or the setbacks of the Republic of Moldova on environmental assessment.
The training sessions were delivered by the experts of the Public Association "EcoContact" - Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov, doctor of law, associate professor, executive director, Irina Punga, master of law, law program consultant, Ana Cazacu, master of law, lawyer, and the NIJ trainer Valentin Rosca, doctor of law, university lecturer, head of the Continuous Training Section of the National Institute of Justice.
During the webinar were highlighted topics related to the environmental assessment, including the legal particularities of strategic environmental assessment and those of environmental impact assessment; the normative regulations in the field of ecological expertise; the surveillance system implemented by the international legal acts to which the Republic of Moldova is a party, etc. At the same time, were analyzed case studies that allowed participants to exchange ideas and discuss possible disputes that may arise in national courts given that the strategic environmental assessment is a new concept for our country.
The continuous training course was organized by the National Institute of Justice in partnership with the Public Association "EcoContact", within the project "Agreement to support the Public Association „EcoContact” for the implementation of the Development Strategy 2018-2020 ”, with the financial support of Sweden.
