On May 14, 2018, during a meeting at the Supreme Court of Justice an exchange of views on topical issues of the judicial system, with special emphasis on the evaluation, verification and selection process of judges took place.
The meeting was attended by Diana Scobiala, Director of the National Institute of Justice, Eduardo Robreno, Senior United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Dan Aaron Polster, United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Shibani Malhotra, Senior Justice Advisor, Office of Criminal Justice Assistance and Partnership, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, US Department of State, also the representatives of the Criminal justice and law enforcement section of the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova - Kevin Lanigan, Senior Justice Advisor and Radu Foltea, national legal counselor.
During the meeting was highlighted the importance of mutual sharing of good practices between the two countries, including the training of actors in the judicial sector. In this context, it was mentioned the modernization of the training programs within the National Institute of Justice in order to increase the quality of the professional development process of judges and prosecutors.
It is worth mentioning that during a week, the federal judges, invited at the initiative of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Poalelungi, will share their wide professional experience with the moldovan judges in the frame of a series of training programs. The activities are organized by the National Institute of Justice in partnership with the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova.
