The director of the National Institute of Justice, Diana Scobioala, and the federal judges from the United States of America - Dan Aaron Polster and Eduardo Robreno, have met today, May 14 2018, with the representatives of the Superior Council of Magistracy - Victor Micu, SCM President, and SCM members Petru Moraru, Nina Cernat, Dorel Musteata, Anatolie Galben.
The delegation was constituted by Shibani Malhotra, Senior Justice Advisor, Office of Criminal Justice Assistance and Partnership, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, US Department of State, also the representatives of the Criminal justice and law enforcement section of the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova - Kevin Lanigan, Senior Justice Advisor and Radu Foltea, national legal counselor.
The discussions between the two parties were focused mainly on the organization of training activities for the judges from the Republic of Moldova in specific areas related to legal reasoning and concerning aspects of judicial ethics.
Subjects regarding the differences and similarities between the justice systems of the two countries, the contribution of the US Government to the justice sector reform in the Republic of Moldova and the information campaigns for the civil society regarding the role of the judicial courts were also discussed during the meeting.
It is worth mentioning that during a week, the federal judges, invited at the initiative of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Poalelungi, will share their wide professional experience with the moldovan judges in the frame of a series of training programs. The activities are organized by the National Institute of Justice in partnership with the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova.
