National Institute of Justice in dialog with international experts on recommendations to improve training processes

31. 10. 2024

On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 30, 2024, representatives of the National Institute of Justice held online consultations with the Council of Europe experts who, following this summer evaluation mission, developed two draft reports on the training processes of the NIJ.

The reports on the evaluation of the initial training of candidates to the positions of judge and prosecutor and on the in-service training of judges and prosecutors were drafted by the Council of Europe's international consultants - Francesco Perrone, judge of the Court of Padova, Italy, and Marina Naumovska Milevska, specialist in judicial training.

The participants at the meeting closely analyzed the conclusions and recommendations of the experts, discussing how to implement them in order to ensure the most effective training of future and current judges and prosecutors. The dialog allowed to identify the best solutions to strengthen the role of the National Institute of Justice as a judicial training entity, in the context of Moldova's candidate status for accession to the European Union.

It should be noted that in July 2024, within the framework of the joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe "Support for the reform of justice in the Republic of Moldova", a mission was carried out to assess the training processes at the National Institute of Justice with a view to optimizing judicial training and strengthening the training capacities of the Institute, in accordance with the TAIEX 2022 recommendations.
