Today, July 16, 2024, the project „Supporting the Ministry of Justice and justice sector reform in the Republic of Moldova” was launched. Implemented by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), with the financial support of the European Union, it aims to strengthen the capacities of the key institutions involved in the justice reform process.
The event brought together national and international experts, development partners, representatives of the OECD and the authorities that constitute the target group of the project, including the National Institute of Justice.
In his speech, the Ad interim Director of the NIJ, Adrian Cerbu, stressed the role of the institution he is leading in the training of legal professionals in the context of starting negotiations for our country's accession to the European Union. His speech highlighted the commitment of the National Institute of Justice to advance in the delivery of quality trainings in essential areas for the rule of law and for the European aspirations of the Republic of Moldova.
In the afternoon, the first meeting of the Advisory Group of the project will also take place. During the discussions, the proposed objectives and the initiation report detailing the measures taken to meet the needs and expectations of the beneficiary institutions will be reported. At the same time, the technical aspects of implementation, the intermediate achievements, the work plans and the schedule of activities will be presented.
The OECD project aims to support the reform of the law sector in the Republic of Moldova, through a comprehensive analysis of justice system and the Ministry of Justice, through the strengthening of legal and regulatory practices, through the evaluation of the justice sector strategy and strengthening the institutional capacities of the target group authorities.
