The Ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, Adrian CERBU, was in Vilnius, Republic of Lithuania, on 18-21 June 2024, to participate in the 21st edition of the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC). Established in 1983, IACC is held every two years in different regions of the world and hosts between 800 and 2000 participants from over 135 countries, including heads of state, officials of institutions in the legal system, representatives of civil society and the private sector etc.
This year’s conference topic was “Confronting Global Threats: Standing Up for Integrity” and had the aim to deal with challenges that are more complex as a result of corruption schemes and networks. During the high forum there were debates, presentations, exchanges of experiences, training sessions, and workshops, bilateral meetings designed to develop effective strategies for combating corruption globally and strengthen international cooperation in this field.
In the context of the conference, the members of the Superior Council of Magistracy – Vasile Schiopu and Alexandru Postica and the Ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, Adrian Cerbu had the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Judicial Council of Lithuania in order to establish cooperation on segments of common interest. The delegation also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of Lithuania, where they held talks with His Excellency Emil Druc.
The participation of the Ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice at the International Anti-Corruption Conference was possible thanks to USAID Justice Reform and Anti-corruption Project (JARA).
