On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the National Institute of Justice has started the written test of the graduation exam for candidates to the positions of judge and prosecutor who followed the initial training course in 2022-2024. For two days, trainees who are aspiring to the position of judge will draft a judgment in a civil case and a sentence in a criminal case, and those who want to become prosecutors – an indictment and a corresponding ordinance.
During March 25-26, 2024, will take place the second stage of the graduation exam – the evaluation of the internship, which the trainees completed for 25 weeks in the courts, prosecutor’s office and criminal investigation bodies.
Both, the written and the oral test will be recorded.
It should be noted that this year's graduation session takes place according to the recent amendments to Law no. 152 of 06/08/2006 regarding the National Institute of Justice. Thus, according to art. 26 paragraph (21), 10 candidates to the position of judge and 15 candidates to the position of prosecutor were previously evaluated by a psychologist. The report on the psychological profile of each examined candidate, as well as the general intelligence qualification, will be sent to the graduation exam Committee, to the Superior Council of Magistrates and to the Superior Council of Prosecutors.
Also, the members of the graduation exam Committee were appointed by the NIJ Council, taking into account the proposals of the Superior Council of Magistrates, the Superior Council of Prosecutors, the Minister of Justice and the members of the NIJ Council, as well as the incompatibilities provided by art. 26 paragraph (2) of the Law on the National Institute of Justice, according to which, trainers who were involved in the training of the trainees, members of the NIJ Council, SCP and SCM, members of bodies subordinate to the SCP and SCM, members of the admission Committee etc., cannot be part of the graduation exam Committee.
