During January 29-30, 2024, Ecaterina Popa, the ad interim Director of NIJ and Olga Marandici, advisor to the Director of NIJ, head of the International Relations Section, had a working visit to Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.
The visit served as an opportunity to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova and the Law enforcement Academy under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The document, signed by the ad interim Director of the NIJ, Ecaterina Popa, and the Rector of the Academy, Marat Seksembayev, represents the establishment of a sustainable partnership in order to streamline the judicial training process and the transfer of expertise corresponding to the needs identified in both institutions. Thus, the parties intend to initiate, training activities such as meetings, forums, conferences, workshops and joint seminars, as well as exchanges of documents, brochures and publications in the field of law.
During the visit, were planned meetings with representatives of the Kazakh justice system. In this context, the NIJ delegates met with the management of the Prosecutor General’s Office, of the Academy of Justice of the Supreme Court and of the Commission for Legal Statistics and Special Evidence of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Throughout the meetings was shared the experience of the National Institute of Justice in its 16 years of existence in the field of judicial training. Also, were presented the structure and functioning of the visited institution, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and the need to promote good practices in the segments of common interest, i.e. digitization of work processes, innovative methods of teaching, analysis, studies and socio-scientific research, etc.
