The National Institute of Justice, represented by Olga Musteata, the head of the International Relations Section, participated in the work of the international regional conference „Protection of human rights through judicial education: best practices and improvement of standards”.
The event was held on December 9-10, 2019, in Kiev, Ukraine, and brought together exponents of the judiciary schools of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, as well as experts of the Council of Europe’s HELP Program, trainers and judges.
In her speech, the delegated representative spoke about the new approaches of the National Institute of Justice in increasing the quality of the training process on the three dimensions of training: initial, continuous and e-learning. Also, were emphasized the main innovations of the process of selecting and teaching the trainees at the initial training course, in particular, the optimization and transparency of the admission contest and the use of simulative methods in judicial education. At the same time, the progress made in the reconceptualization of the continuous training plans, in the integration of HELP courses, adapted to the internal legal order, on the ILIAS platform, as well as the results of developing and strengthening partnerships with other institutions in organizing exchanges of experience and traineeships intended for NIJ beneficiaries, were underlined.
The conference was held on the year of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Council of Europe, with the main objective being the practical realization of the idea and values of the rule of law, protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms and sharing best practices between professionals in the field of judicial training.
