On Thursday, February 16, 2023, the Steering Committee meeting of the CoE Project Improving Electoral Practice in the Republic of Moldova, phase II” took place. The meeting was attended by representatives of partner institutions, civil society and international organizations. The National Institute of Justice was represented by Ecaterina Popa, ad interim director, and Tatiana Ciaglic, head of the Legal Information Center.
The event aimed to present the results of the project implementation over two years, as well as the future actions expected to be carried out in the third phase of the project, starting in March 2023.
In her speech, Ecaterina Popa mentioned the value of the partnership established in improving the electoral process, especially on the competence segment of the National Institute of Justice – qualitative judicial training. In particular, she referred to the positive impact of piloting the online course “Electoral dispute Resolution. The ECtHR module”. Developed within the project in cooperation with the National Institute of Justice, the Central Electoral Commission and the Center for Continuous Electoral Training, the module was delivered on the ILIAS platform of the Institute, and 23 beneficiaries, including judges, judicial assistants, lawyers and electoral officials, were certified.Also, Ecaterina Popa confirmed her institution’s commitment to organizing joint judicial training on electoral topics, including control of political financing in elections.
